Derbyshire
2006-02-28
Went for a marathon walk last weekend.
Type "derbyshire" into the search by tag field. Can't create any more sets because I am using the free account, they limit me to three (Paris, Warkworth and Sherwood Forest). Don't know if I want to spring for the pay account yet. If you find it a real pain to find the new photos, let me know and I will buy the pay account (I'm talking to you here, Mom :)).
UPDATE (June 3, 2007) -- Since I first wrote this entry, I have purchased the pro account and the link above goes straight to the Derbyshire photo set.
In true English style, we didn't get a single second of sunlight, so the photos aren't the most exciting, I'm afraid.
I'll put the videos up tomorrow. Also, quite grey, but very English.UPDATE (June 3, 2007) -- I never uploaded the videos, because they are boring as hell and I couldn't be bothered :)
REOs:
- The English are gamblers. There are still lottery television shows where people watch the numbers come up, haven't seen those back home since the 80s. Casinos and poker machines everywhere, we were even offered scratch cards on the PLANE over from Canada.
- Drinking to excess is an accepted behaviour in England. It's one of the few English stereotypes that is actually true. It's weird hearing University instructors and profs talk about how wasted they got the night before at work. a bit off-putting actually.
- The English don't give a shit about the winter olympics. Didn't get to see a single olympic hockey game on TV. Actually turned out to be a good thing...
