The bungmeister
2006-09-21
How funny was Panorama's documentary on "Managers taking bungs" two nights ago?
In case you don't know what I am talking about, look here: What's wrong with a bung?
A "bung" apparently is an amount of money offered to a manager from a player's agent to sweeten a deal. I know it is probably a bad thing for football(soccer) and that the panorama presenter probably made some succinct and valid arguments, but all I heard was: "bung blah blah bung blah bungitty bung bung."
What a ridiculous word. Try using bung in a sentence.
"Johnny gave Frank a nice, big bung to get him to do things for him."
That sentence is even IN CONTEXT! The English, ya gotta love 'em.
This is an actual quote from the article above:
"If they were buying players simply for bungs and backhanders they receive, then the suggestion is that they are buying sub-standard players, players they would not have bought if it were not for the existence of the bung."
Um, yeah. There's nothing worse than a backhanded bung I always say.
My favourite quote from the documentary was:
"We need to be careful, We don't want Sam to be made out to be a bungmeister".
Well no shit, who would want to be known by that?!
